Water Safety Alarms for your Pets Protecting Pets from accidental drowning!
Safety Turtle PET alarm system adds an extra safety measure for your Pet when you're near a pool or lake. While nothing can replace good supervision, Safety Turtle sounds an alert instantly if your pet enters the water, allowing you to react before serious injury occurs. This product is a good choice for families with pools, or those who spend a lot of time at the lake with your pet. Safety Turtle is a state-of-the-art product to provided a "last line of defense" for protecting you pets in your care from swimming pool accidents.
Safety Turtle Pet pool alarm system takes a different approach from other pool alarms - sounding an alarm when the pet enters the water rather than when the pool surface is broken. The Safety Turtle alarm base comes with a wall plug, but also can run from a battery. The alarm base must be located within 100 feet of the water. The pet wears a small water-sensitive turtle that velcros to any collar. When the turtle is submerged in water, the alarm sounds. The Safety Turtle is designed not to sound a false alarm if the turtle is just splashed or sprayed. The wristband is easy to operate. Simply attached the Turtle to any existing collar with easy to use velcro strips. The submersion alarm is loud enough to be heard throughout most homes, and in my tests, the alarm did sound immediately upon submersion in our lake and in a swimming pool. Expansion units are available to cover wider lake shorelines or bigger pool areas, and additional turtle are available so that more than one pet can be protected with the same Safety Turtle base unit. The wristbands are available in six colors. Each color uses a different frequency, so it's important that you buy extra turtles that match the color of the small turtle on the base unit or the turtle will not work. The base unit and turtles are portable and can easily be taken to other pools or lakes without special installation efforts. Pet Hospital health records indicate swimming pools are
dangerous for pets. An untrained animal will probably head for the nearest
edge of the pool to get out, but slippery pool walls do not offer an easy
exit. Panic can quickly ensue and lead to exhaustion. Barking may be
difficult for a dog in the water, making it tough for them to cry for help.
Pools with a vinyl liner offer no grip for the animal, and vertical ladders
are nearly impossible for pets to climb. A solar blanket can both
entice a pet, e.g., to chase a bird, and entrap it. When the solar cover is
on a pool, it is one of the most dangerous times for pets. They either
fall on the cover, or try to walk on it and go under and cant' get back up.
While animals can be progressively trained to head for steps at the shallow
end, if they exist, the steps may be too high for a smaller animal.
Steps below the water line are invisible, so an untrained animal will
never recognize them as an exit, particularly in an emergency.
Vinyl-liner pools offer no grip to
the animal, and often include only a vertical ladder, which is nearly
impossible for most pets to climb or cling to.
Most vinyl-liner pool builders have the experience of repairing
foot-long holes through pool liners at the waterline caused by a front paw
of the owner’s canine.
Very young, very old, and handicapped animals are most at risk of accidentally falling in a pool. A healthy animal who has escaped a close call won’t go near the pool, but this is rather cruel training. Boats Untrained pets are as prone to falls overboard as children. Ropes and handrails do not restrain or secure them. They are susceptible to sea sickness, making them more vulnerable to accident. Pets on a boat require close supervision! Dogs need to be trained to swim! Supervision is most required when it’s least available, during harsh conditions. A pet’s sea legs and self-preservation instincts only result from hard earned sailing experience. Like everyone else, pets on deck should be wearing life jackets. Life jackets are available for all sizes of animal. Dog Life Preserver
